The Mini Hand

 

The Mini Hand and a very simplified version of its « big brother » Handball which makes it more accessible for small. Initially intended for 9-12 years old, Mini Hand is a GAME contributing to the development of the child who does not require complicated installations and its rules are simple.

The Mini Hand remains a sporting, playful, adaptable, complete activity: the child runs, jumps, launches, struggles … and develops his sense of cooperation, decision and responsibility. Excellent tool for the educator, Mini Hand can be practiced on many surfaces and allows to evolve up to 6 teams at the same time on a traditional ground.
It has been in France for more than fifteen years and tends to develop where handball wants to be established under the auspices of the European Handball Federation or the International Handball Federation.

RULES

The basic rules of handball are applicable, but with a concern to adapt to the capacities of the children. They will evolve from a very broad interpretation to a more rigorous application.
The mini hand offers the child a game adapted to his age, which is practiced everywhere, which is playful, free and without « championnite ». The rule, the ground, the forms of play must be arranged.

Duration of Playings

Single game: 3 x 10 minutes with 3 minutes break.
Tournament with 3 teams: 2 x 8 minutes with 3 minutes of rest and 10 minutes of rest for the team which plays two meetings consecutive.
Tournament with 4 teams: 2 x 6 minutes in the framework of three meetings.

The ball

46 to 48 cm in circumference, either in synthetic leather or in foam. It should not hurt and allow good grip.

The players

4 field players, 1 goalkeeper and substitutes whose number is to be determined by mutual agreement. All children should play an equal amount of time. Replacements are made at any time (including the goalkeeper) as soon as the player to be replaced has left the field.

The goalkeeper

Free from his movements in the goal area, he can participate in the game out of it (subject at this time to the rules of the field players), but can not bring the ball back into his area.

EQUIPMENT

Stadium 

It measures between 18 and 25 meters in length and between 15 and 18 meters in width. It is recommended to take the largest dimensions possible especially in width.
In the case of the establishment of two pitches in width on normal ground, the « mini handball » goal lines will correspond to the sidelines of the big pitch. The « mini handball » touchpoints will be at least 1 meter from the goal line and the center line of the big field. The goal area is drawn in a semicircle 5 meters from the middle of the goal.

The route

The mini handball lines are 2 cm wide. There is no median line, no free-throw line and no penalty line.

The goals

2.40 m wide; 1.70 m high (interior dimensions) with net.
They must meet current safety standards. If there is a wall nearby, a falling goal solution may be considered.
