Word from President – ACN TUNISIA 2020
Dear Handball friends,
The countdown has started and will keep on running until 16th to 26th January 2020, date which was selected by the African Handball Confederation to celebrate the first major event of the year 2020 in Tunisia.
Undoubtedly, Tunisia loves the Africa Nations Cup of Handball. More, it is now the most titled country.
The most beautiful page in its “CAN” history took place in 1974 when it hosted the very first edition of that event and brilliantly won the trophy.
Since then, it has already organized that foremost Competition in 1981, 1994, 2006 and created an incredible enthusiasm for the discipline in the country over the years.
Now, it is about to enjoy another great moment, by becoming the host country of the CAN 2020 and who knows, perhaps to confirm its place as the most awarded country! And that’s not all: history will remember that the President’s Cup originated in Tunisia this year!
By appreciating the satisfying work done by the Organizing Committee together with the Tunisian authorities, I am delighted to see that the CAN 2020 will actually enter a concrete phase, because Tunisia wants to prove once again its ability to welcome the whole elite of our sport in excellent conditions.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the participants and all of the stakeholders and wish the welcome to everyone!
It is a good thing to have more Nations at the CAN, our great Sports celebration. Moreover, the athletes are only waiting for the kick-off to reveal themselves to the whole world and enjoy each moment of that beautiful experience.
So, together we must do all our best to show that Handball is popular and attractive; May this inaugural challenge of our 2020 calendar be in line with what we want for the upcoming competitions , by offering our discipline the opportunity to raise its level of performance, organization and hospitality, to try to reduce the gap with the great world Handball nations.
I wish everyone an exciting competition with great pleasure.
Happy New Year!
Long live African Handball!
