Egypt joins Cape Verde in Final

By

The Egyptian Handball team qualified for the final of the 25th edition of the Africa Nations Cup by beating its Tunisian opponent 29-27 (17-16).

Good vibe at the beginning of this evening clash. The Hall of Dr. Hassan Mostafa was full for the circumstance. The first successful attack of the Tunisians will not be without response. The pressure rises with the public that pushes the Pharaohs and press the opponent. A pressure which will pay with heavy fault on Omar Elwakil in full suspension on the left side. In numerical superiority Egypt digs and 5-2 (4th min).

After 15 minutes played, the scoreboard still gave a one goal advantage for Egypt 10-9.

The last quarter will always be to the advantage of the Pharaohs even if the Tunisians will realize for the first time since the beginning of the game at the 23rd minute (13-13) then take the advantage (14-13) at the 25th min then at the 26th (15-14).

El Deraa Yehia in the position of center forward will allow the Egyptians to equalize 16-16 (29th). But especially this precious goal of Omar Yahia who knew how to exploit the 4 seconds that remained of the game time. (17-16) is the score at halftime in favor of the Pharaohs.

At the restart, it is the Egyptians who will be on the attack. They take advantage of the errors in defense of the opponent to put 3 goals. 24-20 after 15mn. But Tunisia could count on Maoua Nouredine, excellent on his position of right back. Very mobile it will allow with the support of Jaballah Jihed to put pressure on the Pharaohs.

Despite this pressure, Egypt remained on its feet until the final whistle (29-27). And the Pharaohs can thank Yahia Omar who was elected man of the match. Egypt joined Cape Verde in the final scheduled for this Monday.
