During the 42nd ECAHF (East and Central Africa Handball Federation) Senior Club Championship held in Rwanda, a significant training event was conducted for referees and technical delegates. Organized by the Rwanda Handball Federation in collaboration with the African Handball Confederation (CAHB), the training was led by CAHB Instructor Yalatima Nanga Coulibaly from Côte d'Ivoire. The program aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of officials in the East and Central Africa region.
A total of 15 referees from five different countries participated in the training. Participants were as follows: two referees from Burundi, two from Kenya, seven from Rwanda, two from South Sudan, and two from Uganda. Additionally, the training involved 10 technical delegates, who played a crucial role in managing the operational aspects of handball competitions. Of these delegates, seven were from Rwanda and three were from Uganda.
The 42nd ECAHF Senior Club Championship concluded with a thrilling match between two East African handball giants: the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) from Kenya and Police HC from Rwanda. In the men's final, NCPB emerged as champions after a hard-fought match against Police HC, ending with a score of 30-27 in favor of NCPB after extra time. The game showcased a dramatic and intense battle between the two teams.
In the women's category, Police WHC from Uganda dominated the competition, winning every match in the round-robin stage to claim the title. They successfully defeated the defending champions, Nairobi Water of Kenya.
