Togo hosts the first training course for coaches to obtain the IHF D license
18 Feb 2025

This is a significant new step for Togolese handball. For the very first time in its history, Togo is hosting the International Handball Federation (IHF) Licence D coaching course.

This training program, which will take place from February 17 to 21, 2025 at the Auguste le Grand Private Secular Institute (IPL) in Lomé, is designed for 40 selected trainee coaches to enhance their skills. The opening ceremony was held this Monday in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the Togolese National Olympic Committee (CNO-Togo), the President of the Togolese Handball Federation, as well as Dr. Nahla Boudhina, an expert from the International Handball Federation (IHF) and the African Handball Confederation (CAHB).

Dr. Nahla Boudhina clarified in her speech that this training will not be just another course, but will "focus more on theory, practice, and teaching" to ensure high-quality technical coaching. Sports officials emphasized the importance of this initiative for the professionalization of Togolese coaches. On behalf of the entire board, President August Dogbo expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Sports, the IHF, and the CAHB for their support in this development. For five days, 40 participants will follow an intensive course combining theoretical modules and live practical exercises. The training will cover the technical and tactical aspects of handball, physical education, and team management, which are essential elements for ensuring the effective development of athletes.

“ This first IHF D License training course marks a significant step forward for handball in Togo  ,” affirmed Auguste Dogbo. “  We want to equip coaches with the necessary tools to improve the training of young talent and raise the sport to a more competitive level  ,” he continued. Please note that diplomas will be awarded to the most deserving participants at the end of the training.
