End of the intercontinental phase of the IHF Challenge Trophy U-19 and U-21. The African representatives that are Guinea in Juniors and Nigeria in Youth have all reached the top of the podium.

The “Syli National Junior” received the silver medal for this competition, which took place in Costa Rica, despite having equal points with Cuba (6 pts each). But the African representatives were not crowned because of the goal differential.
1st Cuba : 6 points ( +48 goals )
2nd Guinea : 6 points ( +34 goals )
The return of the young Guineans to Conakry is expected on March 15.
The defeat that was not wanted for Nigeria
Nigeria ended third in the U19 category after a 28-27 loss against Georgia on Sunday morning. A win for Nigeria would have secured the title and a ticket to the U19 IHF World Championship. But the courageous Georgian team didn’t give up. The first part ended with a score of 16-15. In the second half, both teams put on a good show but in the final minutes of the game, Nigeria let in a goal that brought the score to 28 -27 in their defeat. This is Nigeria’s first loss in the IHF Trophy Challenge since they lost against Chinese Taipei in Kosovo in 2019.
