Word of the President CACVC MEKNES 2021

Dear Handball Friends,

While doubts are still hanging over the major sports events due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the African Handball Confederation remains confident that the 37th edition of the Africa Club Championship for the Winners’ Cup will actually take place from 24th August to 02nd September 2021.

After 1996, it will be the third time that that prestigious handball competition takes place in Meknes.

Very different from the previous editions, this event is unique because of its historical character, which unusual circumstances, related to the occurrence of the pandemic that continues to spread, then to the will of the Royal Moroccan Federation to show that it is utmost importance to keep the African handball move forwards against all odds.

Morocco has proven on several occasions that it is fully capable to host tournaments and the Royal Moroccan Handball Federation has a great experience in this field, of which the 2021 CACVC, during the current complicated period, represents the showcase event of our calendar.

I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Moroccan authorities, for supporting the completion of the preparations for this championship in record time, despite the circumstances imposed by the global health upheaval.

I also welcome the cooperation and contribution of the various partners, as well as the participating teams to ensure the success of this African event.

As of now, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the delegations, the media, who will once again appreciate the legendary hospitality of the Moroccan people.

The Executive Committee is closely following the smallest details of this event, based on its previous experience in the organization and the rigorous follow-up of the Africa Nations Cup in Cameroon.

We are aware that the Handball Community has to participate in the collective effort to fight against the third wave of this epidemic. Let’s know that from now on, the application of sanitary protocols becomes as important as the implementation of a game plan.

I therefore recommend to everyone, self-discipline in terms of behavior towards the pandemic. All of us must be rigorous for ourselves while thinking about the lives of others. Thank you for taking this into account.
