The preliminary round of the 23rd edition of the IHF Women’s Junior World Championship is finally over, and it is with pride that Africa counts Angola, Egypt and Tunisia among the 16 teams that finished first or second in their group.

Egypt, whose best result in the competition was 20th place at Russia 2016, qualified for the main round for the first time in its history after its surprising victory over Poland, 27:25, in the second match of Group H.

Despite a three-goal loss to Romania, Angola used their 11-goal win over the Czech Republic to start the main round with two points.

Tunisia lost only one match against an European team (25:32, against Sweden), and also qualified for the main round. Its best performance in 20 years in the competition!

Guinea will play the President Cup on Sunday, June 26.
